Dear writers & readers,

We are delighted to introduce our wonderful judge for our latest prose poem competition. If you haven’t seen the competition rules yet, then see our last newsletter below:

So, our judge will be: —

Cappelli, MFA, JD, PhD, known as Mary Cappelli

Mary will read every entry, giving each piece the time, attention, and respect it deserves. With a keen eye for language, emotion, storytelling, and originality, she will be scoring each prose poem out of 10, with 10 being the highest possible mark.

Each entry will be judged on:

✨ Creativity and originality
 ✨ Emotional impact
 ✨ Poetic voice and flow
 ✨ Storytelling strength
 ✨ Overall presentation

This means every submission will receive thoughtful, fair, and professional consideration — because your work matters.

Our judge is passionate about poetry, storytelling, and nurturing creative voices, and we are honored to have her supporting this competition. We know she will bring insight, integrity, and genuine care to the judging process.

Along with Mary’s scores, I will also provide my own, along with one other person: my assistant editor, PJ Robinson.

So polish those prose poems, trust your voice, and submit with confidence — your words are about to be seen and celebrated.

We cannot wait to share the results with you all.

Happy writing,
from The Lark Team
